Council Requirements for Short Term Renting

By on June 19, 2017

Queenstown Lakes District Council are very active in the social media space informing property owners on the change in rules especially in regards to short term property rental. This has been largely driven by the popularity of AirBnB. It is a very interesting space at present with would be buyers potentially looking to extend their buying power by $200,000-$300,000 on properties where there are AirBnb opportunities whilst they are away, or for properties where that are set up with separate access to rental spaces.

If this is something that is relevant to you, or is of interest for a potential new property, I would encourage you to make yourself aware of the current rules that are in place with QLDC. These can be read on the attached link found here.
