New Zealand shares similar natural landscapes and a general love of the outdoors as those found in Canada and this has led to similar architectural trends and ideas too. This stunning barn build has both a beautiful exterior and interior fit out. I recently found this article from a Canadian architectural firm – Cargo Architecture. I like a lot and can see similar builds fitting in welk on 400-500sqm sections right here in Wanaka. A perfect holiday crib.
“The project was conceived in a simple global vision: a Scandinavian inspiration, a chalet with clean lines, a modern barn. Materials in their raw appearance have influenced the overall concept, as have pale tones and natural textures such as wood, concrete and white. The black metal then creates an impressive contrast that highlights the matte and smooth finish of steel and the natural grain of Eastern white cedar. Moreover, since the entrance to the site is at a height not related to the level of the ground floor, the choice of installing the same black metal coating on the roof has become imperative in order to offer a neat signage at first glance.”
