It has been all go this week, onsite the window frames and windows are all in and the roof was completed last week. The external cladding team are working on their flashings around the parapet roof and windows today, with the exterior set to be completed by next week if all goes to plan. The house is really starting to take shape.
We are at the stage where lots of decisions are to be made as we’re working to a deadline of the 1st of May for the gib to go up. Mike Plimmer from Plimmer Building Ltd is running a tight ship.
We met with Jeremy from
Lake Wanaka Electrical yesterday and did a thorough walk through of the house, detailing in each room where plugs sockets, light switches, media, sound system and lights will appear. You can quickly work out the extent of cabling that is required to finish off a house with all our demands! Jeremy had some sound advice for us which was great.
We’ve signed off on our joinery as well, custom made by Simon and his team at
Contour Joinery . It was great to be able to carry the design and materials of the kitchen through to the Bathrooms and Laundry. Simon’s team are now working on our front door and timber fins for the formal lounge.
The final big decision this week was air conditioning, which will be determined by the roof space to allow a system to slot in.
At this stage we’re still tracking ahead of schedule which is great especially as the colder months are rapidly approaching. See below for the latest photos.
If you have any questions in regards to building in Wanaka or if you’re thinking about finding the perfect section, please ask away.
Have a great weekend
Mitch
